What is Checked?
Not sure what our auto shop technicians check during an MOT? Our friendly and experienced team examines your vehicle’s exhaust, emissions, brakes, tyres, lights, suspension, steering and seatbelts among other components during our testing procedures.
MOT and car servicing centres do not examine a vehicle’s gearbox, clutch, engine or spare tyre because they don’t affect a vehicle’s safety or roadworthiness. Testing is designed to evaluate a vehicle’s safety, emissions and roadworthiness to ensure that it’s not a risk to you or others on the road. You must book an MOT check after your car has been on the road for three years and every year following by law.
Do I Need My Old MOT Certificate to Get a New One?
Yes, you do! If you misplaced your original certificate, call our garage to request a new one. We just need your original test number or V5C document reference number (found on your V5C certificate) to print you off a new one.
How Long Does a Car MOT Take?
Our Peterborough auto repair centre takes roughly an hour to complete testing.
Can I Drive My Car Home After a Failed MOT?
The only time that you can drive home a vehicle that’s failed its MOT is when you are bringing it to a local car garage to be repaired or are travelling back to a centre to be re-tested. It’s illegal to do so in all other instances.
